Affiliate disclosure
Some services pay PickAuditor a commission when a reader subscribes through a link on this site. This page says where those links are, what they pay, what is recorded, and why they cannot change a number.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a service's own website that carries an identifier for PickAuditor. If you subscribe to that service after following it, the service or its payment platform pays PickAuditor a share of the subscription, typically a recurring percentage for as long as you stay subscribed. You pay the same price either way.
Not every service tracked here has such a programme, and the site does not choose which services to track by whether they do.
Where they appear
- The “Visit” link on a service's profile, where a reader would look for the service's own site.
- Service names in lists whose purpose is to send a reader to a service, such as the services directory and the 365-day ranking pages.
They never appear inside a record, a table cell that carries a figure, an event page opinion table, or a dispute.
Every service profile shows exactly one disclosure line, in the same position, stating either that PickAuditor may earn a commission from that service or that no affiliate relationship exists. The wording is fixed and identical for every service in each case.
What they never affect
- Ranking and order, on the leaderboard, in the directory, on the 365-day ranking pages and in any list.
- Colours, stamps, pills and badges. Red marks a loss or a negative figure; green marks a win or a positive one; amber marks a small sample. Nothing marks an affiliate.
- Which services are tracked, how often they are captured, or how their picks are matched and graded.
- The text of a profile, the questions in its FAQ, or the wording of a claim check.
- Whether a dispute is accepted.
How the separation is enforced
- Ranking is computed by a database function from graded picks. It reads no affiliate table.
- The step that writes a service's profile text receives the service's statistics, claims and disputes, and nothing about affiliates.
- Every generated text passes a check that each number in it exists in the data before it is published.
- The disclosure line is rendered by one shared component from one boolean, so it cannot be worded differently for different services.
- Affiliate revenue is reconciled monthly against the click log; a change to any rule on this page is dated in the changelog.
The rules are also stated in the methodology.
What is recorded on a click
When you follow an affiliate link we record the page you were on, the time, the country derived from your network address, the referring page and which link it was. We do not record your name or email address; there are no accounts on the site. The record is used to reconcile commissions and to see which pages send readers to services.
What the service does with your data after you arrive on its site is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours. Ours is at Privacy.
Bookmaker links
At present the site carries no bookmaker or exchange links. If they are introduced, they will follow the same rules as service links, will be shown only in countries where the operator is licensed, and will not be shown to readers in jurisdictions that require a licence we do not hold. They will never appear inside a record. The introduction will be dated in the changelog and this page revised.
